About Bill Middleton PDF Print E-mail

Bill began playing guitar and singing at the age of seven in his hometown of West Columbia Texas. Playing the guitar came natural to a boy whose father was a musician.

After buying his first bicycle with money he made at seven years old playing guitar, he knew that this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. After graduating from high school in 1973, his classmates attended various colleges but Bill attended the school of “hard knocks" in the music business.

From home town area bands to all major metro areas of Texas; (San Antonio , Dallas, Houston, Etc.), Bill worked his way to the top of the bottom.  The next step was to relocate and give  Nashville Tennessee a try where he began a new career at the bottom of the top.

It wasn’t long after relocating to Tennesse that he gained recognition as an accomplished guitarist and vocalist  and began to use his talents in recording  studios throughout Nashville. Bill landed a prestigious position playing guitar on the "Grand Ole Opry" with several Opry stars. He worked with Jean Shepherd, Porter Wagoner, & Stonewall Jackson  just to mention a few.

After thirteen years ( 1986-1999) in The Grand Ole Opry family, Bill chose to relocate back to his hometown in Texas where he now owns and operates "Bill's Guitar Shop" featuring sales, repairs, and lessons. The grand opening in 2007 was a huge success. Bill's longtime friend and country music recording artist  Trace Adkins made a special appearance to sign autographs and meet the community. It was estimated that over three thousand people came out to" Bill's Guitar Shop" for that event.

Bill is also an accomplished song writer having written many Gospel/Christian songs that you hear on his CD entitled The Crossroad”. He also writes and performs Country as well as Gospel.

Due to many requests, Bill  recorded some of those country originals as well as some of his all time favorites on his Country/Blues CD entiltled; "The Door". This recording performance captures Bill's versatility of guitar styles as well as his dynamic vocal abilities. The legendary songwriter/recording artist Johnny Bush was also a featured guest on this CD, singing a duet with Bill on the country classic "Don't Be Angry",which was written and originally recorded by Bill's old boss man and Grand Ole Opry legend Stonewall Jackson.

Johnny Bush also recorded and released two of Bill's original  songs  on his  "Honky Tonic" CD. The first song is Bill's  title cut "The Door", and the second song is "Still Putting Out an Old Flame" which is also on Bill's CD.

Bill also co-wrote and published along with James Young via the  "ELI YOUNG BAND" a song entitled " Heres To You" recorded and released by The "Eli Young Band" on their live CD; "Live at The Jolly Fox" as well as their "Eli Young Band" C.D. These C.D.'s have recently been re-released after signing their major label deal on"Universal".

Music has always been the way of life for Bill and will always be his first love.

Still performing with his own band "Billy Bob and The String Slingers", you can find Bill  somewhere just about every week-end at theaters, festivals, fairs, dances,or anywhere people enjoy great guitar playing and singing with that Country/Blues flavor.

BILL (THE GUITAR TECH.)

Bill has over 25 years as a technician on all makes and models of guitars/string instruments. While living in Nashville Bill performed services for some of the biggest name acts in the world. The photos in the gallery on this site speak for themselves. The worlwide publication" Peformance Magazine" named Bill the Guitar Tech. of the year in 1995. Bill was one of the few technicians in the business who the legendary Chet Atkins would call on when he needed help with his guitars. It's simply a trust issue when it comes to working on an instrument says Bill. "You take it to whom you can trust". Bill has built and maintains his reputation as a liscensed technician using the same criteria over and over, and that is;Quote:When the instrument gets on my work bench it becomes my guitar, so therefore I treat it as such throughout the whole process. Then when I am finished with the procedure deemed necessary and the customer is not happy, then I know I probably can't make them happy because I've given them my best : Unquote. Bill is unaware of any unhappy customers with his work. If you're looking for that right person to handle your set-ups and or repairs you may want to let Bill take a look first. The estimate is free and who knows you may become Bill's next happy customer and friend.
